Public Holidays in South Korea may belong to one or more of the below categories.

National Celebration Day: Days that are considered joyous by Koreans are considered as National Celebration Day. Independence Day, Constitution Day, Liberation Day and National Foundation Day, and Hangul Day are National Celebration Day.


National Flag Day: All National Celebration days along with January 1, Memorial Day (half staff) and Armed Forces Day are national Flag Day. During these days, the South Korean Government encourages to raise the South Korean flag also called as Taegeukgi at the individual houses.
